In 1983 Cafe Luxembourg opened its doors to become the quintessential neighborhood bistro of the Upper West Side. This charming 90 seat restaurant glows in the warm light of Jean Perzel fixtures and antique mirrors. The dining room tables are covered with white paper over linen and an enormous vase of flowers towers over the red leather banquettes and French cafe chairs. The welcoming servers wear traditional black and white uniforms with long white bistro aprons.
Located on 70th street just west of Broadway, Cafe Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers, celebrities and visitors alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars, either fans of the topnotch cocktails or wine enthusiasts perusing the well developed list. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Cafe Luxembourg staff. Cafe Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.

Cafe luxembourg Dining Excellence on the Upper West Side
"Exactly what I'm looking for in a dining experience"
Everything was beautifully cooked and very flavorful. The french toast was incredible - light and airy, but with a delicious creaminess and a perfect bit of crunch at the edges, and the fresh berries were perfect (in other words, not plucked from the "out of season" bin). The smoked salmon Benedict was well-balanced, not too heavy and came with excellent crispy fries and the omelet was fluffy and tasty.
The one word I would use for this place is "thoughtful". The restaurant aimed to fade into the background and allow us to enjoy the good food and good company in peace, without interruption. What a pleasant brunch. Exactly what I'm looking for in a dining experience - nothing more, nothing less.
"We loved it"
My husband and I enjoyed every bit of our experience at Cafe Luxembourg and will definitely return the next time we are in NYC. The restaurant was recommended by a friend who lived on the Upper West Side for 14 years and ate there all the time. The "buzz" of the restaurant was fabulous, the food was fantastic and we loved the whole atmosphere. We had a leisurely dinner with no pressure at all. We loved it and will definitely return!
"You can always count on Cafe Luxembourg"
Hasn't faded over all these years. Food, service and ambiance remain terrific, no matter the day of the week or the season. Kudos to all who work hard to keep it that way.
"Feels like Paris"
Tried and true for many years, and always so good. Fun to people watch, you never know what famous person might stroll in. Food always excellent, wine equally good. Ambiance charming.Wait staff friendly, welcoming and accommodating. This time it was brunch, and had the BEST ricotta pancakes I've ever had (and I don't even like pancakes!). My friend took a bite and couldn't stop raving about them. Such a pleasure!
